Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Gymnastics Program Director will be responsible for communicating and providing administrative support of day-to-day Gymnastics Center operations to all YMCA in Greenfield participants and their families. The Gymnastics Program Director will also assist the Youth and Family Director with risk management by helping, monitoring, assessing, planning and implementing in-services for the gymnastics/sports programs. This role will need to demonstrate and develop a commitment to the key areas of focus; youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Candidate will be responsible for programming a modern Gymnastics Center, teaching/coaching about 30 hours per week, and supervising 6-8 part-time staff to help with Gymnastics youth classes (200 kids/week from parent/child up to Pre-Team); Gymnastics Team (50 kids); Birthday Parties; Parkour & Ninja Classes; Family Fun Nights; Rentals; Summer Camps (8 weeks, 7 hours/day, 35-45 kids); and more.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT
- Develops, implements, and manages operating plans for Gymnastics Center programs with a goal of promoting programs and membership growth for the YMCA
- Actively communicates with Parents Gym Meet Volunteers and trains them as needed
- Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing training of staff - creativity in designing and executing engaging lessons
- Creates new programs to fill hours in the center
- Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions
- Recruits and trains older Gymnastics Team members to be Jr. Volunteers / coaches who may eventually become paid staff
- Executes strategies to ensure that members and program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed
- Works closely with the Youth & Family Director and other staff to meet the needs and goals of the YMCA
- Collaborates with Marketing Director to develop and coordinate all necessary marketing and promotion for related programs and services. This may include but not be limited to, timely and frequent news releases, school distributions, paid advertising and the design of brochures, program guides and flyers
BUDGET AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
- Develops and controls department budget
- Maintains accurate and up to date records, files, and billing / collection procedures and provides data and reports as required for assigned programs
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND SUPPORT
- Provides leadership and support to the Y’s annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees as assigned
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community and other YMCAs
FACILITY MANAGEMENT
- Works cooperatively with Gymnastics staff and Maintenance staff to ensure the cleanliness and safety of all equipment and facility areas
- Ensures proper Center coverage is present for all functions in accordance with program needs. Acts as the building professional on duty as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Candidate must be physically capable to set up program equipment, spot gymnasts
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Have the ability to hear and see activities and problems as they occur
- Must be a least 21 years of age
- Our ideal candidate has solid coaching experience (5+years), as well as an understanding of fitness and gymnastics fundamentals and skill progressions, excellent spotting skills, familiarity with USAG routines and requirements
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to lead others and work collaboratively
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to verbally communicate with students, parents, members, and co-workers, providing clear directions and assistance
- Comfortable working with kids and keeping them motivated, organized and interested while learning new skills in a fun environment
- Energetic demeanor and positive approach to teaching, training and competition
- Ensures a positive working and program environment emphasizing the YMCA’s areas of focus and character values
- USAG Professional Membership and National Background Screening
- Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising
Required Certifications
- Must complete Blood borne Pathogens and Employee Safety trainings prior to initial assignment to position.
- Must complete other New Employee training within the first 90-days of employment.
- Must complete Listen First and Child Abuse Prevention trainings within the first 90-days of employment.
- Must complete CPR/AED and First-Aid certification within the first 90-days of employment.
- Must obtain a Professional Membership with USA Gymnastics within first month of employment.
- Must complete the USA Gymnastics Criminal Background Check within first month of employment
- Must complete the USA Gymnastics course U101: Safety and Risk Management within the first 90-days of employment.
- Must complete the USA Gymnastics course “Safe Sport” within the first 90-days of employment.
Salary: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00
