Would you like to share your passion for the arts with others?  Would you like to use your knowledge and skills to to make a huge impact on local children as you act as a role model to help them achieve personal growth?  As the arts director, you will build relationships, instill confidence, and provide opportunities for growth and improvement by overseeing the development and operations of arts programs for the branch.

As a team member, you will provide an impactful member experience by developing, directing, and coordinating all aspects of youth and adult arts programming. You will provide leadership to extensive performing and visual arts programs, such as youth dance companies, arts staff and program volunteers.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Make great decisions:

  • Lead development of dance programming, scheduling and curriculum.
  • Serve as artistic director to youth dance companies.
  • Assist with development, management, and implementation of the approved program budget.

Provide quality results:

  • Assist with direction and production of annual dance recitals, musical theatre productions, visual arts exhibitions and Y Arts Week events.
  • May develop or assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, organize and schedule program registrations.
  • Compile program statistics.  Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.

Collaborate:

  • Establish new program activities and expand program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.

Build Relationships:

  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Provide leadership for arts programming to include but not limited to dance, musical theatre, music, visual arts, and arts specialty camps.
  • Provide arts related contributions to branch, association and community events.
  • Provide leadership and support to the Annual Campaign and volunteer committees/boards by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.
Educational Background: 
I have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • I have five or more years of related experience.
  • I have extensive dance and/or visual arts education and the ability to teach participants of all levels and ages effectively.
  • I have comprehensive theatrical production experience and/or experience curating visual arts exhibitions.
  • I have an appreciation and passion for visual and performing arts.
  • I have current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED,  First Aid, and Oxygen certifications.
