Would you like to use your food preparation and management skills in a fun and unique setting? At Camp Seymour, you will manage all areas of food service, including preparing, servicing, and cleaning up after meals all while enjoying the beautiful outdoor camp atmosphere in the Pacific Northwest.
If hired for this position you will run daily meal operations as needed, including preparing and serving all meals for campers. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen program that provides meals to all participants in all YMCA camp programs throughout the year. Following the Y’s healthy initiatives, you will direct in the planning and preparation of nutritionally balanced camp meals.
In this position you will be able to use your skills to:
Develop staff to their fullest potential:
- Interview and hire cooks and all food service staff.
- Plan, coordinate, schedule, and supervise the work of other food service staff.
- With your team of kitchen staff, help create memorable camp experiences for all ages.
Make great decisions:
- Order food and kitchen supplies consistent with menus and enrollment counts.
- Coordinate menu planning for user groups as needed.
- Promote practices that seek to reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as much as possible.
Provide quality results by:
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation and safety.
- Inspect equipment and ensure equipment is repaired as necessary.
- Meet performance measurements in annual giving, major gifts, and/or endowment by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.
Be innovative
- Prepare and serve all meals.
- Direct in the planning and preparation of nutritionally balanced camp meals, snacks, and pack-out food.
- Promote practices that seek to reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as much as possible.
Are you a good fit?
- I have experience in food preparation and management.
- I have a food handler’s certificate.
- I am willing and able to adjust to camp resources, conditions and programs.
- I have knowledge of safe practice and procedures for required tasks.
- I know how and am able to manage upkeep and care of kitchen equipment.
