Gibbon, NE, USA
Internship

Audubon’s Wings internship program invites high school and college students and recent graduates to help shape a healthy environment and vibrant future for birds – and all of us who share the planet with them.

Peer Leader Interns will learn from experts in the field of conservation education while gaining exposure to a variety of education techniques both inside and outside of the classroom.  Expand your Wings at Audubon and learn how to:

  • Positively relay natural history material and conservation lessons to campers
  • Effectively manage time for age appropriate lessons and activities
  • Be positive role models and facilitators for the campers

Audubon’s Rowe Sanctuary’s Platte River Safari Camp is an experiential-based, conservation day camp.  The program’s purpose is to engage children out on the land – and the water – to discover the great diversity of life that exist beyond their own backyards.  By using local field sites and interdisciplinary, experiential-based curriculum that leads to conservation action, Safari Camp aims to create in the minds of our children a deeper appreciation for where we live.

Peer Leader Interns will focus on gaining the skills necessary to lead small groups of students through conservation education summer camp programs, as well as gain experience implementing lesson plans in an outdoor setting. Audubon Nebraska’s Peer Leader Internship is a challenging, highly rewarding experience for anyone considering a career in environmental or conservation education.
