These positions will work with the Education Director and Summer Camp Educators to help assist with camp activities and help supervise campers for Audubon’s Rowe Sanctuary Platte River Safari summer camp programs.

Platte River Safari is an experiential-based, conservation day camp.  The program’s purpose is to engage children out on the land – and the water – to discover the great diversity of life that exist beyond their own backyards.  By using local field sites and interdisciplinary, experiential-based curriculum that leads to conservation action, Safari Camp aims to create in the minds of our children a deeper appreciation for where we live.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers during activities and throughout the camp.
  • Help insure that campers are properly supervised at all times and safety rules are followed.
  • Provide supervision during lunch, cleanup and bus travel.
  • Aid with minor discipline issues.
  • Work with all ages and abilities.
  • Work odd hours.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A desire to work with children in outdoor settings and share his/her knowledge and enthusiasm about the natural world.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • An understanding of the development needs of youth.
  • An ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate rules, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
  • CPR and 1st Aid Certification are highly recommended.
