The Cherokee County Family YMCA is seeking an entrepreneurial spirited individual to build upon the foundation strong history and lead the Y to greater community impact in Cherokee area and surrounding communities. This impact will be possible as a result of leader’s visibility in the community through relationship cultivation, ability to motivate and build strong staff teams, strategic planning, fiscal management, and innovation and implementation abilities. The CEO will be expected to provide leadership to match program and community needs, provide a sound operations base with more from earned and contributed revenue.

The CEO must be an ambassador for the mission, goals, and values of the YMCA within the community and uphold the highest ethical standards and values exemplified in the YMCA heritage. The CEO should be able to identify key issues and challenges facing the whole community (diabetes epidemic, health and wellness for the community, drugs, violence, the need for afterschool activities, etc.). Individual must be a creative and enthusiastic self-starter, with fiscally sound practices to increase the impact of the Y in the community. A focus on serving a diverse community and a proven track record in membership and program with the ability to increase retention, growth and development of new initiatives.

Educational Background: 
Accredited 4-year college degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
  • Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.
  • Must have the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
  • Have the ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.

 Preferred Criteria for Candidates:

  • YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (must be obtained within 3 years of hire).
  • Fiscally sound business management approach.
  • Strategic planning and fundraising experience including annual campaigns and the securing of grants.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish)
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00
