Our Program Director is responsible for promoting, developing and managing all activities associated with our Youth & Adult Sports, Summer Camp, and Teen Programs. The Program Director will lead the operations of, oversee and grow the programs of YMCA of Freehold, and its summer day camps on a year round basis. In addition they will develop and implement high-quality sports/recreational/educational programs for youth through adult populations.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Leads, manages and supervises all year round programming, summer day camp programs in accordance with operating plans.
  • Oversees all youth/adult programs and Freehold camp activities, including swim lessons, arts & crafts, trips, sports activities, theme days and shows etc. Supervises the well-being of all campers.
  • Hires, trains, supports instructors, gym supervisors, referees, camp counselors and volunteers.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas and state camp health codes.
  • Hires, trains, develops, schedules, and supervises all staff. Designs and implements staff training and meets with staff regularly.
  • Ensures the delivery of high quality, safe, educational YMCA youth, teen, adult programming in a nurturing environment.
  • Assists in marketing ideas to increase membership in all programs and camp. Organizes and schedules all registrations, including camp.
  • Responsible for year round programming and summer camp budgets.
  • Designs, implements and evaluates inclusive youth/adult programs and camp programming.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising and special events.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and concerns in a timely manner. Able to deal with conflict when warranted.
  • Responsible for evening building coverage and weekend duty as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation or related field or equivalent 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three+ years’ experience in coordinating and structuring youth/teen/adult programs
  • Strong organization, customer service/interpersonal skills, computer and communication skills a must.  Effective leadership skills and membership interaction
  • Prior experience developing & running summer camps highly preferred
  • Must be creative, innovative and enjoy working with children and adults
  • Experience in program development and implementation, staff recruitment, selection, supervision and training, team building etc.
  • 2-5 years’ program &/or camp leadership experience required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Camp Brain a plus
  • Flexible schedule, days, nights and weekends- this position requires significant amount of evening and weekend attendance.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00
