The School's Out Director develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA Out-of-School Time (OST) programs including School’s Out, Camp OCP, and Y STEM Academy in accordance with Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), Department of Public Health (DPH) regulations as well as MetroWest YMCA philosophy, policies, and practices.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Program Management & Development

  • Manages, directs, coordinates, and enrolls the MetroWest YMCA School’s Out programs including before and after school care, vacation day programming, Camp OCP and Y STEM Academy. Implements strategic initiatives and establishes new program activities.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as well as YMCA program standards
  • Ensures high quality programming by including:
  • A curriculum that incorporates academic and social/emotional outcomes as well as individualized support
  • Child assessment and quality improvement practices are implemented for each site
  • Completes a comprehensive program evaluation and subsequent follow through with program improvement plan.

Membership Development & Engagement

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with children, families, and school personnel through verbal and written communication
  • Leads social media efforts for departments as well as the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Responds to all parent inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Leads the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Organizes special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.

Community Involvement & Support

  • Develops and maintains relationships with the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care, Framingham Board of Health, school administration, and other stakeholders related to assigned programs
  • Responds to all Y, school, and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
  • Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

Staff Engagement & Development

  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, evaluates, and supervises Site Directors and volunteers as needed following Y policies and expectations. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Supports recruitment, hiring, training, developing, scheduling, evaluating, and supervising of site staff.

Volunteer Development

  • Engages families in volunteer opportunities including facilitating a Parent Advisory Council, encourage philanthropy, and organizes special events for families. Represents the Y on community PTO’s and/or School Councils

Facility Management

  • Ensures health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Provides a welcoming and engaging learning environment for children

Budget & Financial Management

  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget with input and support from Site Directors.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent and committed to ongoing professional development.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must have experience supervising a licensed OST program with elementary school age children and at least two years supervising professional staff.
  • Complete understanding and compliance with EEC and DPH licensing regulations.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $47,000.00 - $60,000.00
