The Membership Director directs all aspects of membership for the Framingham Branch including Sales, Retention, Service and Experience. Works collaboratively with the Marketing Director to develop and implement membership campaigns. Works collaboratively with the Business Manager to follow association guidelines in managing membership, program and camp business functions. The Membership Director will foster and lead a culture that is welcoming and inclusive that advances the Y mission and impact within the community.

Areas of Responsibility: 

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT 

  • Manages financial assistance program. Coordinates program registration and supports branch camp registration. Communicates members’ program needs and interests to Program Directors.

STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT 

  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs Member Service staff team. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Reviews and submits biweekly payroll report.   Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Leads regular staff meetings.

MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

  • Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.  Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Develops and leads member engagement events, focus groups, onboarding strategies, marketing and outreach opportunities. 

BUDGET & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Plans, manages and monitors department budgets as approved in a fiscally responsible manner.  Responsible for timely and accurate payroll for the department. Monitors and reports on membership trends including sales, renewals and terminations.

FACILITY MANAGEMENT

  • Works with appropriate branch staff to provide program facilities for members that are safe, clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive.  Manages facility access cards for member access through lower level entrance. Fulfills Professional on Duty requirement as assigned.

VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT 

  • Builds and develops volunteer capacity, sharing the social responsibility. Develop and maintain a volunteer membership advisory committee.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT 

  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events, and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community. Support and participate in Family Events and Membership Fairs.  Actively supports the Annual Campaign.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Preferred three years relevant membership experience (recruitment, sales, marketing, engagement, retention and customer service).
  • Preferred three years’ experience in staff hiring, development and supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • CPR with AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Ability to monitor revenue and expenses.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software. Ability to learn new software systems.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Multilingual candidate preferred, Portuguese or Spanish speaking a priority.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00
