Manage all food production for our new Café and programs running under the Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP).
The Head Chef manages all food production for the Café, and programs running under the Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP). This position ensures that children enrolled in Teen Night, School’s Out, and the Early Learning Center (Education Branch) have access to healthy food during program hours and will support healthy eating practices across the MetroWest YMCA. This position is responsible for all production, presentation, procurement, inventory, storage and delivery. Must be a self-starter, leader, and highly motivated individual.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Create menus and procure food in compliance with Y-USA Heathy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards, MetroWest YMCA policies and budget, and Children and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines for Education Branch.
- Oversee ordering, inventory, and schedule management
- Manage CACFP and Y-USA documentation and procedures to ensure compliance
- Prepare food for Education Branch as appropriate and feasible.
- Provide leadership with the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) efforts.
- Prepare and manage five component meal service at our Framingham School’s Out Program, Hoops & Homework Program, and/or Saturday Teen Nights.
- Provide leadership, support and guidance to ensure that food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety guidelines and customer service expectations are met.
- Serve as a HEPA champion to implement across Association.
Skills/Experience:
- Experience with large volume cooking preferred
- ServSafe certification
- Knowledge and experience with the Department of Early Education and Care nutrition regulations and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education CACFP Standards
- The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with, staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators, members, community leaders and other agencies
- Driver’s license and access to personal vehicle for transporting food to sites.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $18.00 - $22.00
