The MetroWest YMCA is hiring a full time Site Director for our School's Out Before and After School program at our Barbieri school location. This Framingham School is a two-way bilingual school and we would like to have our before and after school program reflect that. During the school year Site Directors are in program every afternoon from 2:30-6pm working directly with children and staff. They attend the morning program 2-4 times a month to ensure the program is running to standard. Administration hours make up the remainder or the 40 hour work week. During early release days, vacation camp, and summer camp hours shift to reflect the program needs.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating a developmentally appropriate curriculum, communicating with and building relationships with school personnel and families, and supervising staff.

  • Directly manage and coordinate a high quality School’s Out site including child recruitment, supervision and guidance.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that incorporates the Common Core Curriculum Frameworks through project based learning and current research lesson/activity plans.
  • Assure compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to School’s Out site. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and health and safety procedures followed.
  • Develop and maintain positive relations with children, families, host school personnel, and other staff. Model relationship-building skills in all interactions and provide written and verbal communication with families and school.
  • Hold a leadership role in summer day camp
  • Complete all administrative duties necessary to ensure a safe, high-quality program in a timely manner based on EEC and MetroWest YMCA policies, procedures, and guidelines. Examples include: ensure child and staff files are complete, create and submit curriculum plans, monitor child absences, place supply orders and complete evaluation tasks.
  • Organize special events for parents.
  • Participate in site based PTO and/or School Council if appropriate.
  • Lead annual support campaign fund raising campaign at site and supports other YMCA fund raising activities.
  • Under the supervision of the School’s Out Area Director, develops, manages, controls and operates budgets related to site including the purchasing of supplies and snacks.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in, as well as record, required trainings in accordance to individual professional development plan and EEC regulations.
Skills/Experience: 

Applicants must be at least 20 years of age and have at least one year of experience with elementary school age children in a licensed program (camp or after school).

Applicants must be dedicated, energetic and caring individuals who can provide a safe and creative environment that supports the well-being of school age children. They should be able to promote teamwork, be dedicated to excellence in out-of-school time education, and possess strong communication and organizational skills.

Required education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent is strongly preferred and committed to ongoing professional development.

Required experience:

  • Working with elementary school age children: 1 year
  • Licensed afterschool or summer camp program: 1 year
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
