The YMCA Sports Complex is looking for a cause-driven Sports Director to join the team.
The YMCA Sports Complex is looking for a new leader to join the team and support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. As the Director, you will develop, organize and implement high-quality YMCA youth programs with an emphasis on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The youth sports program currently serves over 5,000 participants throughout the year in leagues, camps, and clinics.
The key components of this job will include recruiting coaches, growing current programs, new program development, creating practice and game schedules, securing locations for practices and games. Additionally, providing high-quality experience for the families, following up on questions and ensuring a positive YMCA experience is a responsibility of the Director. The schedule for this role has variable hours and is typically a mid-morning to early evening schedule during the weekdays, and will require Saturday work.

- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
- Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquires and complaints in a timely manner.
- May assist with Program Committee Meetings.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- One to Two years of related experience (e.g., supervisor or coordinator of youth sports programs) preferred. YMCA Team Leader certification preferred. CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
- High energy, positive, "can-do" attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail and a high degree of initiative will help this candidate be successful.
- The ability to direct programs through leading both staff and volunteers, developing and monitoring budgets, developing and marketing programs and bring enthusiasm and a passion for fundraising.
- This leader will need the ability to connect and relate with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization.
Salary: $38,000.00 - $41,000.00
