The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is looking for a cause-driven HR/Risk Manager to join the team and support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the SVP of HR/Risk, the HR/Risk Manager is responsible for providing leadership in areas of ASHI process management, certification over site, workers compensation, Association audits, recruiting support and investigation support.

The HR/Risk Manager will manage very tactical tasks with an intense level of customer service while also providing counsel on high-level situations to Executives and Operations leaders. The HR/Risk Manager is a business partner to branches and Operations leaders, providing a solution-oriented approach to all situations. Understanding how to generate buy-in and gain compliance while working to support the Association leaders will be a key component of the HR/Risk Manager's success.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serve as the association ASHI (CPR & First Aid) administrator for both aquatics courses and all others certifications. Ensure a process and system is in place to make association wide ASHI management sustainable.
  • Develop an annual association training calendar, including but not limited to ASHI courses, aquatics courses, leadership training, program, etc.
  • Manage workers comp claim submittal, first report of injury, bona fide offers, wage reports, supervisor questions and OSHA 300 reporting.
  • Foster the development of staff at all levels in the organization by engaging in ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Provide support to employee relations and investigations as needed by the HR & Risk Team.
  • Work with hiring managers to coordinate internal and external recruitment efforts, support the job posting process, ensure quality job postings, and participate in association hiring events and interviews as needed.
  • Coach and counsel leadership and staff on human resource policies and procedures, workplace issues, career development and other personal and professional concerns.
  • Inspect and/or tour branches, child care sites, campsites, and other YMCA property to detect existing or potential safety and health hazards, and provide recommendations for corrective or preventative measures where necessary and as needed to the SVP of HR/Risk.
  • Assist the SVP of HR/Risk with the development of safety practices and procedures in compliance with YMCA, local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Tactical Teams to ensure consistent training messages and certification standards throughout the association.
  • Oversee the process for the management and tracking of association certifications such as CPR/First Aid certifications, child abuse prevention and bloodborne pathogenstraining's. Work with appropriate association leaders on the content development and delivery of training.
  • Support other projects and initiatives as needed by the HR/Risk team.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree or at least 3 years experience and/or training. 5+ years in a safety/Risk/HR related role with and emphasis on audits, certification management, training, compliance, hiring and/or employee engagement. YMCA Team Leader Certification pref
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to connect and relate with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarization of regulatory compliance: CPR/First Aid administration, Department of Transportation rules and regulations, local, state and federal OSHA safety rules and regulations, and workers' compensation claims administration.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and/or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information, make recommendations and respond to questions from management and branch personnel.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Compensation/Benefits: 

This is a full-time, exempt position and will require the ability to manage multiple projects, change from on project to another with little notice, as well as the ability to work independently under tight deadlines and under pressure while remaining friendly and professional. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver, influential and flexible with an ability to navigate differing stakeholder perspectives or ambiguous information when making decisions. Must be customer service driven and a supportive team player.

Salary: $54,000.00 - $60,000.00
