The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is looking for an HR Director to join the team and support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  Under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, the HR Director advocates for the development of a cause-driven culture, understands the organization’s business strategy and recognizes how HR supports the achievement of the strategy.  This person will need a broad understanding of human resources, and will have a primary focus on employee relations and training & development.  The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated track record of building strong, strategic relationships within their organization and bring a high degree of customer service focus to the HR function.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Pro-actively partner with business to provide employee relations guidance to all staff levels, including conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and performance improvement counseling.
  • Serve as an advocate for our employees.
  • Provide direction to employees/managers to resolve human resource matters (e.g. escalated benefits issues, transfers, demotions/promotions, departmental/management conflicts, etc.).
  • Explain and interpret YMCA and governmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for employees and management.
  • Conduct and/or support investigations into claims of potential harassment and discrimination; escalate to senior personnel as needed.
  • Participate in developing and implementing department goals by determining timelines, milestones, and deliverables of the department in relation to established goals.
  • Primary contact for full time hiring support at branches.
  • Lead components of the integration of an automated onboarding process for new hires, and work with branch leaders to ensure our new employees have touch points beyond new hire orientation.
  • Work cross-functionally with branch leaders to provide consultative services regarding best practices for learning and development programs.
  • Design and facilitate internal association supervisor training to include the integration of the leadership competency model, hiring cause-driven leaders, and Fort Worth YMCA HR procedures.
  • Train association leaders on HR related components of the Human Resources Information System.  Maintain a high degree of proficiency with Ceridian Dayforce in order to serve as a resource and trainer for branch staff.
  • Provide counsel and assistance with employee terminations including exit interviewing.
  • Serve as the department’s planning coordinator for All Staff Luncheon’s and assist with Annual Staff Recognition Event.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3 years of Human Resources experience or 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • 1 year of experience handling internal complaint investigations.
  • 1 year of experience in learning and development including needs assessment, content development, design, facilitation and corresponding metrics to training and development.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with state and federal employment laws including but not limited to; FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, etc.
  • Strong initiative and solid judgment abilities/skills.
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and produce results.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, be able to partner, use a subtle style and work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to connect and relate with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00
