Promote the Alzheimer's Association as the key source of information, support, education and advocacy for people with Alzheimer's disease, their families and professional caregivers.
Objectives: Work primarily in Tarrant County to:
- Raise awareness of the importance of early detection
- Create and maintain relationships with physicians
- Accelerate research by generating interest and enrollment in the Alzheimer's Association TrialMatch
Areas of Responsibility:
- Coordinate and deliver education programs in Tarrant County using select Common Program Plan curriculum with the goal of raising awareness of the importance of early detection with strategic target populations and corporations
- Develop and implement outreach activities designed to raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease, the importance of early detection and Alzheimer's Association programs and services
- Create and execute a formal physician outreach plan that will generate physician referrals via the nurturing of existing relationships and the development of new relationship with physician practices in Tarrant County
- Assist in the management of incoming referrals from physicians and other healthcare organizations to ensure timely responses to client inquiries and needs
- Develop and execute an outreach plan to raise awareness of clinical trials; strengthen partnership with local research entities with the ultimate goal of accelerating research through increase participation in the Alzheimer's Association TrialMatch program
- Provide consultation and information on Alzheimer's disease, caregiving issues and community referrals to Helpline clients over the phone or in-person
- Ensure proper documentation of all program activities and Helpline interactions
Working Conditions:
- Normal office environment
- Travel by car to attend meetings within Chapter territory and by air to attend other meetings
- Work may be stressful during periods of high volume or tight deadlines
- Equipment: Laptop, Telephone/Fax machine, Audiovisual equipment, Calculator and Photocopier
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in gerontology, social work, public health or related field
Skills/Experience:
- At least one year of experience in education or public health preferably with older adults
- Demonstrated ability to engage with healthcare professionals
- Working knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and community resources related to aging services
- Experienced public speaker; bilingual English and Spanish preferred
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to multi-task
- Ability to work well with other staff, volunteers and clients
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Demonstrate computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
- Bilingual, English and Spanish Preferred
- Other:
- Must hold a valid driver's license and have a reliable vehicle available for work purposes
- Must be willing to work on evenings and weekends as needed
- Must accept other duties, as assigned
