The Central Branch YMCA is looking for candidates with these traits to fill the position of Aquatics Director in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, IN.  The ideal candidate will have a resume with noticeable experience in aquatic program development as well as facility and risk management strategies. 

Opportunities

  • Build and grow 109 member competitive swim team
  • Strengthen and expand adaptive swim lesson program for members and the community
  • Collaborate with local schools to connect more students to swim lessons, as well as opportunities to become swim instructors and life guards.
  • Become a leader in a growing YMCA branch, in the middle of a thriving downtown city.
Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Oversee the recruiting, hiring, training, and supervision of staff as well as including volunteers to develop an impactful aquatics program.
  • Develop, implement, and promote dynamic and innovative aquatics programs for youth and adults, including special populations. 
  • Monitors daily pool operations and aquatic facility maintenance to comply with all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  • Analyze procedures and schedules for assigned programs and facilities including pool schedules for best practices, safety and participant satisfaction.
  • Manage the financial activities of assigned departments.
  • Provide lifeguard, swim instruction, First Aid, and CPR training as needed for branch and association staff.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; LGI certification preferred (required within 60 days).
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license.
  • 2 or more years of related experience including aquatics program development and implementation.
  • Proven experience in effective staff management, leading volunteers, and building relationships with members.
  • Ability to relate empathetically to diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
Compensation/Benefits:

Salary: $33,000.00 - $38,000.00
