Camp Potawotami is located in Northeast Indiana on Blackman lake and provides outdoor experiences for campers, students and adults.


YMCA Camp Potawotami is accepting applications for a Full Time Maintenance & Facilities Director. This position is responsible for general maintenance of camp property, grounds, buildings, and equipment including building and equipment repair, light construction, preventative maintenance, forest management, and housekeeping. The right candidate will be detailed, hands-on, resourceful, proactive, team player and a servant leader.

YMCA Camp Potawotami provides outdoor experiences for campers, students and adults through Summer Camp, Outdoor Education and Retreats.   Camp is situated along the shores of Blackman Lake on over 210 acres of woodlands, meadows, wetlands and hiking trails for you to explore.

A $15 per month cell phone reimbursement is provided.  Salary for this position is $35,000-$40,000 and living arrangements are negotiable.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  1. Ensure general cleaning and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and grounds.
  2. Provide overall coordination of facility and property maintenance including: planning and developing preventative maintenance programs and annual improvement plans.
  3. Employ and supervise 2-3 part time staff.  Review and evaluate staff performance.
  4. Make improvements, repairs, and maintenance to buildings, grounds and equipment that are within areas of expertise.
  5. Ensure that all mechanical systems are in properly operating.
  6. Hire and oversee outside contractors for extensive repairs and other building services or to complete projects not within expertise.
  7. Maintain both written and electronic records and necessary supplies for the overall condition and operations.
  8. Be on call for emergencies and be willing to work flexible hours. 
Skills/Experience: 
  1. Must be at least 21 years with a valid driver’s license.
  2. This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent and at least 3-5 years of maintenance experience, plant management, or related field.  Licensing in a specialty such as HVAC, plumbing, or electrical is preferred.
  3. This position requires the ability to read and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labels.
  4. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas preferred.
  5. Experience in supervision, budget management, and project management is preferred.
  6. The ability to respond to safety and emergency situations quickly is critical.
