The Jorgensen YMCA has an immediate opening for an Aquatics Director in SW Fort Wayne, Indiana. Reporting to the District Executive Director, the ideal candidate has the desire to advance their aquatics career with an exciting opportunity to lead the operations of both an indoor and outdoor aquatics area for a large YMCA location. A successful director will be a detail-oriented, effective listener, strong team builder and servant leader.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop, implement, and promote dynamic and innovative aquatics programs for youth and adults, including special populations. 
  • Supervise part-time staff; oversee the hiring and training of new aquatic staff.
  • Make connections with members and guests and assist with inquiries.
  • Establish new activities and expand offerings to grow aquatics participation and retention in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations.
  • Develop and monitor department budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events where applicable.
  • Demonstrate effective listening and compassion toward people in all interactions with the purpose of delivering the mission of the YMCA.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license.
  • Two to three years of related experience; preferably within the YMCA.
  • Current Lifeguard Certification; LGI Certification preferred
  • Previous experience building a team, running programs, and managing aquatics facilities
  • Experience in, or ability to relate to diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.  
Compensation/Benefits:
