The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne is looking for candidates with these traits to fill the position of Aquatics Director at the Central Branch YMCA.  The ideal candidate will have a resume with noticeable experience in aquatic program development as well as facility and risk management strategies. 

 Opportunities:

  • Build and grow 109 member competitive swim team
  • Strengthen and expand adaptive swim lesson program for members and the community
  • Collaborate with local schools to connect more students to swim lessons, as well as opportunities to become swim instructors and life guards.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop, implement, and promote dynamic and innovative aquatics programs for youth and adults, including special populations. 
  • Analyze and modify rules, procedures, and schedules for assigned programs and facilities including pool schedules for best practices, safety and member satisfaction.
  • Oversee the recruiting, hiring, training, and supervision of staff as well as including volunteers to develop a winning aquatics program.
  • Manage the financial activities of assigned departments.
  • Oversee management of pool chemicals and aquatic facility maintenance.
  • Provide lifeguard and CPR training as needed for branch and association staff.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; LGI certification preferred.
  • 2 or more years of related experience including aquatics program development and implementation.
  • Proven experience in effective staff management, leading volunteers, and building authentic relationships with members.
  • Ability to relate empathetically to diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
