The YMCA of South Florida's new Hallandale Beach YMCA Family Center is anticipated to open July 2019, and we are looking for an individual with proven aquatics programming and supervisory experience to join our team as an Aquatics Director. The Aquatics Director is responsible for preparing and administering departmental budget, coordinating swim lessons, as well as developing new programs on and off site.  In addition, this positin will manage the Aquatics staff to include hiring and training of staff as well as ensuring that all safety and risk management procedures are followed.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Meets all assigned program enrollment and program quality benchmarks by marketing and promoting the Aquatics Program.
  • Develops new Aquatic programs both onsite and offsite; meets or exceeds enrollment goals
  • Assists Executive Director in Annual Campaign to exceed Dollars, donors and Volunteers goal
  • Ensures that the Aquatics program follows the program standards, policies, protocol and guidelines of the YMCA of the USA, Y South Florida as well as state and local codes.
  • Prepares and controls the annual income and expenses for the budget in the Aquatics Department to meet or exceed budget.
  • Coordinates schedules of participants for each season and class; lifeguard scheduling.
  • Keeps abreast of safety and Risk Management and emergency procedures as well as follows Y South Florida audit process monthly, in service and staff trainings.
  • Maintains accident reports, records of equipment and safety inspection, and health code records.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education or related field, preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5 years of Aquatics program experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as CCC software program.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish, a plus.

Required Certifications

  • MCA or Red Cross Lifeguard Certified, Certified Pool Operator and Swim Instructor Certified, preferred.
  • Must have current certifications or complete within 90 days of hire:
    • First Aid/CPR/AED, CPRO and oxygen administration certification
    • YMCA Lifeguard Certified, Red Cross Lifeguard Certified
    • Certified Pool Operator and Swim Instructor Certified
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00
