The Regional Aquatics Director is responsible for preparing and administering departmental budget, coordinating swim lessons and Safe Start, as well as developing new programs. In addition, the Regional Aquatics Director will manage the Aquatics staff to include hiring and training of staff as well as ensuring that all safety and risk management procedures are followed.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Meets all assigned program enrollment and program quality benchmarks by marketing and promoting the Aquatics Program.
- Ensures that the Weston Aquatics program follows the program standards, policies, and guidelines of the YMCA of the USA as well as state and local codes.
- Assist with Broward County Aquatics Mobile Van schedule.
- Seek out opportunities and partnerships in the community to provide free and paid swim lessons at community pools, housing complexes, private facilities…
- Provide oversight of the Swim 4 Jenny grant activation and programming details throughout Broward and Miami Dade County.
- Research and apply for other funding sources surrounding aquatics, such as grants and underwriting opportunities.
- Oversee, in conjunction with the Director of Competitive Swim Programs, the swim team at Weston.
- Prepares and controls the annual income and expenses for the budget in the Aquatics Department.
- Coordinates schedules of participants for each season and class.
- Keeps abreast of safety and Risk Management and emergency procedures.
- Maintains accident reports, records of equipment and safety inspection, and health code records.
- Recruit, hire, train and manage staff.
- Audit lifeguard skills, certifications and in service documentation to ensure all staff are within association policy and standard.
- Provide training to staff in lifeguarding, CPR, first aid, oxygen
- Assist with the development of member communication material, brochures, newsletter, PSA’s target marketing materials and in-house information.
- Maintain program areas at the YMCA and off-site locations in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education or related field, preferred.
Skills/Experience:
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of Aquatics program experience with a budget exceeding 500K.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as CCC software program.
- Must be organized and detail oriented.
- Bilingual, English and Spanish, a plus.
Other skills and abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
- Knowledge of the principles related to the improvement of overall fitness levels.
- Must possess excellent communication, supervisory, fiscal management and organizational skills.
- Must possess excellent competent knowledge of exercise principles, fitness testing, health risks, and exercise program design.
- Working knowledge and familiarity with exercise safety guidelines for instruction and equipment
- Computer skills, including word processing systems
Certificates and Licenses:
- YMCA Lifeguard Certified, Red Cross Lifeguard Certified, Certified Pool Operator and Swim Instructor Certified, preferred.
- First Aid/CPR/AED, CPRO and oxygen administration certified.
- YMCA certifications must be completed within 90 days of hire.

Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00
