The YMCA of South Florida is now hiring an Associate Executive Director of Aquatics. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Aquatics, the Associate Executive Director directs and oversees the Aquatics Product Line YMCA’s assigned program areas. The Associate Executive Director is expected to operate independently, but work diligently toward the goals outlined by the Executive Director.  

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Recruits, supervises, and evaluates Family Center staff to work as “One Y” and meet fiscal, quality and performance standards of the YMCA of South Florida with regard to Aquatics.
  • Works closely with Executive Directors of Family Centers to ensure program and revenue targets are met through expanding existing aquatics programs, developing new aquatics programs on-site and off-site, program quality and expense control measures in accordance with the association and family center strategic and annual priorities.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in aquatic programs and services through surveys, focus groups and/or monitoring methods. Uses compiled program statistics, data and reports to maintain or make appropriate program and service adjustments
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with members, community leaders, organizations, partners and volunteers. Creates and implements initiatives and member-led activities resulting in Y community engagement.
  • Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, and community leaders) develops positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
  • Ensures that safety and procedures are followed and that all aquatic programs comply with YMCA of South Florida standards, all regulations and other applicable standards.
  • Ensures that Risk Management procedures are followed and that all aquatic programs comply with YMCA of South Florida standards, all regulations and other applicable standards.
  • Displays professional behavior to support Aquatic Association goals, values and protocols at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned based on association aquatic requirements or needs.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in program area or related field or equivalent education/experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Five or more years of supervisory experience; related experience including staff leadership and volunteer supervision, community program development, financial management and fundraising.
  • Broad knowledge of member services and proven experience in building communities within a family center structure.
  • Experience in setting high standards, motivating a team, seeks out personal development opportunities and ways to develop others with strong growth in programs.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, gender, etc.) with examples of inclusion and equality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to relate to individuals at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $53,000.00 - $65,000.00
