The Fond du Lac Family YMCA is seeking a motivated and outgoing individual to expand our gymnastics program that instills all aspects of the Y’s character development by implementing a strong, well-rounded, safe and disciplined gymnastics program through progressive lessons and a highly competitive team. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Positively models and reinforces YMCA’s core values, mission statement, and relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and directs progressive lessons personnel and volunteers as needed.  Holds staff accountable for high-quality results using a formal process to measure progress.  Reviews and evaluates staff performance, job descriptions, and wage schedules.  Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals, while ensuring continuing education (when applicable).  Provides staff with feedback, coaching, guidance and support.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and managing operating plans to promote program growth.  Works with the Gymnastics Administrator in:  assisting in organizing and conducting parent and team meetings and communications; creating groups from paid and financially assisted registrations; developing and distributes team practice and meet schedules; assisting in regularly analyzing program data and audits programs to ensure it meets quality performance standards and compliance; fostering a climate of innovation; assisting in marketing and distribution of program information and materials; expanding program awareness within the community in accordance with strategic and operation plans; developing and maintains working relationships with organizations and agencies related to assigned programs within the community. 
  •  Assists in effectively creating and managing budgets.  Maintains accurate records.  Identifies significant business, financial, and operating risks and financial irregularities, and communicates information to management.  Ensures program operates within the budget.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, while adhering to deadlines.  Ensures YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed while making revisions for department policies, plans, and procedures.
  • Cultivates relationships to support fundraising.  Provides leadership support for annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned.  Supports special events and activities.  Identifies and writes grants (when applicable). 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong commitment and knowledge of gymnastics.  Experience in developing a progressive and competitive (Level 1-8 and Xcel) gymnastics program.  Demonstrated experience in safely teaching and spotting complex skills or a combination of skills as performed in competition preferred.
  • Previous supervisory and/or management experience preferred.
  • Must be able to move effectively through all program areas; be able to perform physical functions necessary to program instruction, including but not limited to squatting, bending, kneeling, safely spotting program participants and demonstrating use of program apparatuses or program skills.
  • Able and willing to work varying shifts which may include afternoons, nights, and weekends as well as travel with the competitive team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills and the ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
