The Flushing YMCA is seeking an experienced professional to join its leadership team as the Senior Director, Youth & Family. The Senior Director of Youth and Family will provide leadership for all branch youth, family, and teens programs and activities. The incumbent is responsible for the program development and management, staff and volunteer supervision, budget preparation and management, government contract development, implementation as well as overall management, New York State and City Health Code compliance, ACA and community outreach. The incumbent will carry out the mission and vision of the YMCA and demonstrate the YMCA values in all contacts with staff, members, volunteers, government agencies and members of the community.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers. Ensure staff members complete all Y required training programs.
  • Conduct annual staff and participant evaluation, using results to improve service delivery.
  • Plan, implement, supervise and evaluate: Beacon programs, Community schools, UPK, Teen programs, After School programs, Family programs and summer camp, in addition to fee base and funded off sites.
  • Create, recommend and implement a comprehensive youth and family program plan which considers space utilization equipment needs, budget requirements, safety and emergency procedures, YMCA values and quality standards.
  • Develop, market and implement fee based and funded youth, family, sports and teen programs on or offsite.
  • Serve as a liaison with city agencies, schools, and partners. Ensure standards and contract requirements are maintained.
  • Regularly review all programs for Association and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and monitor operating budget, oversee government contracts, and overall management of New York State and City Health Code compliance, ACA and community outreach.
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Provide assessment and appropriate intervention to program participants, youth members and families.
  • Establish and maintain relations with community partners and service providers in a range of settings including other CBOs, public and private schools.
  • Attend community outreach events and meetings.
  • Attend Association meetings as required for areas of responsibility.
  • Write funding proposals.
  • Participate in Annual Campaign.
  • Adhere to Association Youth & Family standards and guidelines.
  • Participate and present in board of managers meetings.
  • Uphold association policies, demonstrate ethical behavior and demonstrates the YMCA’s values.
  • Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, or Social Work required; Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, Non-Profit Management or a Bachelor’s degree with three years of relevant experience preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of two years of leadership experience supervising youth programs and family programs.
  • Five to eight years of progressive leadership experience managing youth and family programs strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of supervision of staff, planning, implementing, and managing programs.
  • Knowledge of third party payments and services preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $61,000.00 - $84,000.00
