The YMCA of Findlay Ohio Board of Directors is looking for a compelling leader who is cause-driven, energetic and passionate about the mission of the Y. A leader who will actively interact and communicate with YMCA members, donors, staff and volunteers. Create a unified culture across all program areas, building a common goal to serve the families in the Findlay community. Must be seen and respected as a leader within the community while always upholding the highest standards and values of the YMCA.
This position requires strong skills and competencies including, but not limited to: program operations, fundraising, staff development, strategic planning, membership & program analysis, and facility management. The CEO will be active in the development of meaningful community partnerships, positioning the Findlay Y as a strong charitable partner.
- Advocate the YMCA Vision Within the Community: Be viewed and respected as a key leader within the community, proactively creating collaborations while always upholding the highest standards and values of the YMCA. Act as an ambassador for the mission and vision for the YMCA within the Findlay community. Actively interact and communicate with YMCA members, donors, staff and volunteers. Seek every opportunity to promote the key strategies and strength of the Findlay YMCA.
- Lead and Develop Staff Team; Shape the Culture: Evaluate the current strengths and training gaps of all key staff and create and foster a plan for individual staff development, including key changes in organizational structure if needed. Ensure staff culture aligns and supports organizational strategy. Create a plan to build unity, encourage teamwork; establish a culture of diversity, inclusion, integrity, and character for all staff. Create an overall positive environment by encouraging values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and personal growth. Celebrate excellence within the YMCA, while holding staff accountable.
- Develop and Implement a Strategic Plan: Lead efforts in conjunction with the board to develop a strategic plan ensuring the initiatives meet community needs. Develop a plan of action to address specific areas of the YMCA that are in need of enrichment or development including, but not limited to, setting priorities, enhance the operations, increase marketing and awareness, and the enhancement of programs and services. Work with the Board and the appropriate YMCA staff to develop an annual tactical plan for achieving key YMCA goals and objectives.
- Engage the Board in Developing a Culture of Philanthropy: The executive leader will be expected to engage the board to create a culture of philanthropy; leverage the resources currently available to drive the Y to higher levels of performance; and increase the long-term financial stability of the Y. Develop a strategic fund-raising platform to include annual campaign, major gifts, planned-giving, foundation grants, special events and capital campaign.
- Provide Strong Fiscal Leadership: Management of the current budget to ensure a balanced budget at year-end paired with revenue growth and expense management to support the current day-to-day operations and the continued development of reserves for the future needs of the YMCA. Demonstrated ability to identify and acquire foundation grants, endowment funds and other community collaborations to generate new revenue streams necessary to support and sustain the needs of the YMCA.
- Experience in preparing and managing a budget in excess of $2,000,000
- Solid operations experience with strong membership expertise
- Minimum of 10 years’ prior experience in a senior leadership level role; direct YMCA or similar organization a plus.
- Proven experience managing and leading a diverse staff at multiple locations
- Proven experience and results with Capital & Philanthropic Fundraising
- Concise and effective communicator
- Personal Values Consistent with the YMCA mission
Preferred Attributes:
- A track record for building and leveraging community partnerships and alliances to achieve organizational goals. Strong leadership expertise and multi-branch management experience is preferred.
- Master’s degree in business and/or organizational development
- Five years prior experience in Executive Role
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (Note: Candidates who do not already possess this certification will have up to three years to certify via the Y-USA Training and Leadership Development criterion.)
Salary: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00
