This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Ensures successful operation of the Fergus Falls Area Family YMCA, including membership, program development, volunteer recruitment, staff supervision, community relations, collaborations, budgeting and financial results.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Oversees high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and association goals. Oversees branch marketing and communication efforts.
- Provides leadership and direction to the Fergus Falls YMCA by coaching lead staff and by providing overall direction to the branch board and volunteers. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
- Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develops, manages, and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits reports on current operations.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
- Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, and collaborations.
- Identifies potential areas for branch cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA goals and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads branch staff in the planning, development, and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.
- Provides reports to committees, the Board of Directors, and the President/CEO.
- Provides staff leadership to assigned committees of the Board of Directors.
- Implements and oversees a program evaluation system to ensure consistency with the Y’s cause and standards.
- Manages and oversees all aspects of information systems. Develops and manages system security, including back up processes. Oversees budgeting concerns related to IT and vendor contracts.
- Oversees all facility use issues, concerns, and opportunities.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in human services, recreation, business, or a related field, or equivalent, preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development, and monitoring of budgets, marketing, and public relations, and program development.
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $48,000.00 - $58,000.00
