Armed Services YMCA - Ft. Bragg, NC branch seeks a skilled manager and progressive leader who has passion for serving our active military.

The Executive Director oversees the development and execution of all programs and services at the branch. The Executive Director designs new programs and services based on the needs of military members and their families, with the input of military base leadership. This position supervises all staff at the branch and works closely with the local Board of Management to develop and maintain the mission, vision, strategic plans, and goals of the branch and executes their implementation. The Executive Director is responsible for managing the budget and all financial reporting, leading the organization’s fundraising efforts, and ensuring the staff is accomplishing the organization’s goals and objectives. In addition, the Executive Director serves as the primary spokesperson for the branch and the liaison to other organizations and the community at large.
- Promotes the ASYMCA’s mission in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
- Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
- Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
- Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
- Coordinates the development of the branch board and committees. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
- Oversees and ensures compliance in the hiring, training, development and supervision of staff and volunteers, while fostering a positive work environment.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
- Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meet or exceeds budget goals.
- Develops and directs high-quality relationship-based member engagement strategies.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate ASYMCA programs and services to the community.
- Serves as a member of ASYMCA Executive Director Team and supports the overall objectives of the ASYMCA.
- 10+ years experience in management or supervisory position; ability to align a team with a mission and achieve established goals.
- Proven track record of planning and implementing successful fundraising programs.
- 5+ years experience developing and managing multiple programs.
- Prior experience working with military personnel and agencies required.
- Knowledge of military culture and related social service organizations required.
- Prior active-duty military or military spouse experience a plus.
- Previous experience working with or for a non-profit a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a budget, monitor expenditures, review and understand financial reports and take corrective action when necessary.
- Able to cultivate strong, productive, and accountable relationships with a Board.
- Knowledge of accounting and human resources concepts and applicable laws.
- Strong interpersonal/human relations skills and able to deal with a wide range of relationships and situations.
- Able to present a professional and positive demeanor with internal and external customers/clients and work cooperatively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly proficient in using computer, Internet and general office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Able to work after hours (nights, weekends) as needed.
- Available for local travel daily (e.g., local businesses, meetings, branch locations) and for overnight business travel, estimated at up to 10%.
