This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
This position will oversee assigned areas of a YMCA branch, which will include day camp, before/after school care, aquatics, building operations, health and wellness as well as participate in volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies. This position will directly oversee several program managers and have responsibility of $2 million (+) operating revenue. This position will be acting Manager on Duty when Executive Director is out of the office.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop and direct high-quality program strategies which support branch and Association goals and strategies.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop and direct employees and volunteers.
- Review and evaluate staff performance.
- Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develop, manage, and monitor assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets.
- Establish plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the leadership team.
- Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
- Provide staff leadership for annual support campaign.
- Serve as a YMCA manager supporting the objectives of the YMCA.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree required from accredited university.
Skills/Experience:
- Five or more years of management experience and budget accountability of $1million or more preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Proven track record of growing and expanding program operations.
- Prior supervision of multiple full-time exempt staff and part-time staff.
- Proven track record of positive staff development.
- Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, and program development.
- Must be able to work in collaborative group settings, manage a well-seasoned staff team and lead by example.
- Prefer knowledge of and previous working experience with diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
