The Development Specialist is part of a team that raises funds to support the Alzheimer’s Association’s vision, mission and programs and services. This position coordinates the logistical details of the North Dakota Walks to End Alzheimer’s® in collaboration with volunteers, as well as assists with other North Dakota fundraising initiatives.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Walk to End Alzheimer’s:

  • Manage volunteers to coordinate successful overall day-of logistics for the Walk to End Alzheimer's
  • Support other Walk committee members and assist with volunteer recruitment and stewardship
  • Provide meeting support to Walk to End Alzheimer’s committee meetings as needed
  • Help create and manage training materials for volunteers; help pre-train event day-of volunteers
  • Participate in Walk data reporting and queries as needed (e.g., stewardship calls)
  • Provide customer service for team captains and fulfill material requests
  • Assist with the cultivation, motivation, stewardship and recognition efforts of our donors and volunteers 
  • Travel to all Walk locations in ND to establish and cultivate strong committee relationships

General Development / Special Events:

  • Assist the Senior Development Manager, ND with fundraising initiatives, events and projects as needed, including The Longest Day and Giving Hearts Day
  • Represent the Association at designated benefit events
  • Respond to general donor inquiries/information requests, donation calls and process donations
  • Assist with donor cultivation, stewardship and recognition efforts
     
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or 1-3 years of relevant work experience 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Understanding of development and fundraising programs preferred
  • Professional experience in a nonprofit fundraising setting preferred
  • Experience working with volunteers preferred
  • Willingness to work on evenings and weekends if necessary
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license and insurance
