The Youth & Teen Specialist supports the work of YMCA of Bucks County, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This is a leadership position that will oversee operations of all youth, teen and sports programming in Fairless Hills and Newtown locations.
This is a Full-Time position beginning in January. There is an opportunity to start immediately part-time, however, this is a full-time position to begin in January 2019.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages and supervises the day-to-day operations of the youth, teen and sports program areas. This includes direct service hours of coaching/teaching classes.
- Develop and oversee all youth and adult sports programs, tournaments, referee coordination, special interest classes, sports birthday parties, and gym rentals.
- Schedule, promote, and coach Youth Sports Classes. Develop new and innovative programs that promote retention and continued involvement in YMCA programs.
- Grow current programming and develop/ implement new programs that meet the needs of the community.
- Recruit, Plan and Implement activities for 7th Grade Initiative Students
- Develop and Maintain a positive relationship with local school districts and other community partners.
- Recruit, train, and consistently develop a staff team which exhibits a welcoming, positive, mature, and empathetic attitude; while displaying high knowledge of our cause-driven services.
- Establish a clean, safe, organized, welcoming environment that speaks to all members.
- Through the use of Listen First, establish positive collaborations between staff to staff, staff to the member, and ultimately member to member.
- Continually compile and use survey results to close service area gaps throughout areas of responsibility.
- Development and run departmental budget
- Work closely with the Marketing Department to promote programs and special events.
- Support Summer Camp Director & Summer Camp Program
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a supervisory position.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Ability to demonstrate problem-solving, independent judgment and making decisions within the guidelines of the YMCA.
- Ability to relate effectively to a diverse group of individuals from all ages, social and economic segments of the community.
- Flexible schedule including evenings and Saturday’s.
- Trained in Listen First or will become trained within 6 months of position
- Complete New Staff Orientation within 60 days of date of hire
