The McGaw YMCA is an open, charitable membership association. Our mission is to promote growth in spirit, mind and body through programs and services for all. The McGaw YMCA has over 13,000 members, 700 employees, 400 volunteers and an annual budget of $13.5M.
The President/ CEO will bring a deep understanding of not only key community issues and needs but how the McGaw YMCA, either in concert with other community partners or on its own, can be a positive force throughout the Evanston community. The President/ CEO is responsible for ensuring the financial sustainability, fund-raising results, overall members (new members and member retention), community engagement and staff morale of the association.
The successful candidate will embody high ethical standards and cultivate a culture of inclusion, collaboration, integrity, character and service to community within and outside the McGaw YMCA-- all of which serve to reinforce, encourage and promote our values.
- Oversee the development and implementation of a myriad of high-quality, high-impact programs and services that benefit and reflect the rich diversity of the Evanston community.
- Supervise and work closely with the management team in executing the vision and priorities of the association. This team includes the Chief Programs & Operations Officer, Chief Administrator & Financial Officer, Chief Human Capital Development Officer and the Vice President of Philanthropy & Leadership Gifts. Staff support is provided by the President/CEO’s Executive Assistant.
- Be responsible for delivering multi-year financial results to support high quality programs, addressing ongoing infrastructure and capital needs and ensuring that strategic initiatives offered on a no-cost basis or not fully funded by membership fees can be sustained without any erosion of McGaw’s financial capability.
- Be actively involved in fundraising activities in conjunction with the association’s advancement team, which oversees annual and capital campaigns, corporate and foundation grants, major gift donors and sponsorships.
- Facilitate deep and effective collaborations and working relationships throughout the community – bringing new opportunities and stakeholders to the association and providing strong advocacy and leadership throughout the Evanston community.
- Nurture an effective and inclusive culture throughout the association where accountability, transparency, access, equity and work family balance are valued and modeled every day.
- Fully engage the skills and talents of the Board of Directors in order to ensure a highly invested and informed governing body committed to the mission and goals of the McGaw YMCA.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a senior leadership role with direct supervision
- In-depth knowledge and experience in leading diverse organizations and a deep, abiding commitment to diversity, inclusion, access and equity
- Solid business management and financial skills with demonstrated record of meeting and/or exceeding multi-year financial targets
- Strong track record of results in meeting or exceeding multi-year fund-raising goals
- Excellent verbal, written and electronic communication skills
- Demonstrated experience working with Boards, teams and multiple constituencies
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification is required. Candidates not already in possession of this certification will have up to two years to obtain via Y-USA

Salary: $155,000.00 - $193,000.00
