Under the supervision of the Nordic Director, the Assistant Nordic Director trains, schedules, and supervises Nordic Center staff and volunteers.  The Assistant Nordic Director will schedule ski lessons as well as on demand events, maintain inventory control, supervise daily shop operations, and assist in preparing for larger Nordic Events.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Oversee daily operations of Nordic Shop.
  • Be accountable for future group activities as well as seasonal fluctuations and schedule staff accordingly.
  • Be a willing, active and enthusiastic participant in YMCA of the Rockies functions.
  • Uphold and reflect the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith in all functions.
  • Promote a cooperative, positive and problem-solving atmosphere at all times.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a diverse environment.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED administration.
  • Working knowledge of business management.
  • Demonstrate the ability to fluently read, write and speak English.
  • Possess an enthusiasm for winter sports, in particular Nordic Skiing development and guest offerings within the Nordic Center and Program Department.
  • Able to operate general office equipment.
  • Ability to train, schedule, supervise and evaluate Nordic shop staff and instructors.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of the Nordic Center when the Nordic Director is not present.
  • Able to move independently throughout the outdoors over uneven and snowy terrain, either by walking or by other means.
  • Uphold the YMCA of the Rockies Mission, policies and programs.
  • Support the Association safety program.  Promote safe work practices and a safe environment for guests, members and staff.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills; for example, friendly, personable, helpful, patient, and professional.
  • Must meet acceptable criminal background check standards.
