The Grounds Maintenance Worker assists the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor in the upkeep, beautification and improvement of the Estes Park Center grounds

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Works mainly outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Upkeep of existing improved areas and improvements on new areas.
  • Trash services including recycling, and litter pick-up.
  • Maintain roads, ditches and culverts year-round; such as snow removal or other repairs/replacement if required.
  • Operate and maintain underground sprinkler systems.
  • Plant and care for flowers, trees, shrubs and grass as assigned by the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Work on various other tasks outside the grounds maintenance field during the off-season as required by the Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds.
  • Work cooperatively and completing projects with seasonal crews.
  • Recommend actions to be taken to improve and effectively maintain the grounds of the Estes Park Center to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assist the Buildings & Grounds Department as needed to ensure quality services for guests and staff.
  • All other duties as assigned
Skills/Experience: 
  • Knowledge of planting and caring for flowers, trees, shrubs and grass required.
  • Safe operation of hand and power tools common to the grounds maintenance field required.
  • Have experience using small power and hand tools and equipment including lawn tractors and mowers, weed eaters, and chain saws.
  • Experience using tractors, skid steer loaders, and backhoes
  • Have good time management skills.
  • Read and follow sketches and diagrams in English.
  • Be a quick learner.
  • Physical effort required for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional heavy lifting and carrying of objects up to 100 pounds.
  • Possess a valid, USA state issued driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
Compensation/Benefits: 

This is a full-time, year-round, hourly paying $14-16.50/hour with full benefits, including:
