The Banquet Captain helps coordinate and executes wedding and special events at the Estes Park Center.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  1. Manage every detail of events to meet guest expectations.
  2. Serve as liaison between various departments needed to implement weddings and special events.
  3. Serve as coordinator for weddings and special events.
  4. Collaborate with Events Coordinator during and following event booking process, and assist in booking weddings and special events when necessary.
  5. Provide guidance to event leaders.
  6. Train banquet staff in proper etiquette, policies, procedures and event venue set up and service.
  7. Schedule and supervise banquet staff.
  8. Have access to and knowledge of AV inventory and coordinate needs with AV Techs.
  9. Develop and keep updated detailed shopping guide to local vendors; such as cakes, florists, DJs, party rentals, etc., and provide shopping guide to event leaders.
  10. Develop standardized floor plans to give guest a clear understanding of the facilities’ layout.
  11. Keep a detailed inventory of banquet supplies and the condition of those supplies.
  12. Attend local and regional bridal shows, in order to increase potential guest knowledge of the YMCA of the Rockies.
  13. Conduct pre- and post-event meetings to ensure quality guest experience.
  14. Support the Association safety program. Promote safe work practices and a safe environment for guests, members and staff.
  15. Uphold the YMCA of the Rockies Mission, policies and programs.
  16. Uphold and reflect the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith in all functions.
  17. Promote a cooperative, positive and problem-solving atmosphere at all times.
  18. Ability to work cooperatively with others in a diverse environment.
  19. Possess excellent customer service skills; for example, friendly, personable, helpful, patient, and professional.
  20. Assist in special event room set-up.
  21. All other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience: 
  1. Must have at least three years’ experience in banqueting, catering and/or food service.
  2. Must have knowledge of special events coordination.
  3. Must be organized and have excellent time management and organizational skills.
  4. Must follow and be fluent in written and oral English.
  5. Must maintain a neat, clean, professional appearance and presentation.
  6. Must possess a valid, USA state issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles
  7. Must work holidays, weekends, and morning or evening shifts.
  8. Must have basic computer skills and develop knowledge of property management software.
  9. Must be able to work eight hour shifts on concrete floors and lift 40 pounds up to 36 inch high tables.
  10. Must have food handler certification.
  11. Must meet acceptable criminal background check standards.
