The Education and Outreach Coordinator is responsible primarily for the strategy, planning and delivery of educational programming, advocacy engagement and community outreach efforts for their Regional office service area. Additional responsibilities would include the recruitment and management of program volunteers around all aspects of the Alzheimer’s Association mission. This full-time position is located in Erie, PA, and reports to the Senior Program Manager.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Conduct community engagement efforts and provide educational programs to Chapter constituencies including:
    professional providers, family caregivers, persons with disease and community stakeholders.
  • Plan, implement and oversee portions of the Portfolio of Common Programs & Services (PCPS)
  • through the use of staff and volunteers.
  • Utilize existing curriculum, manuals and/or training resources for programs. Ensure these materials are
  • up to date and relevant to program topics.
  • Ensure quality assurance and tracking measures are in place, i.e. Personify, CSQEI, etc.
  • Coordinate Association participation in high profile community events including: community
  • forums/expos, conferences and other community presentations.
  • Targeted outreach to key constituencies to promote the Association, assess community needs and identify
  • new opportunities for service delivery.
  • Engage new communities and volunteers towards Chapter efforts in support of our vision of "A World without
  • Alzheimer’s.
  • Maintain working knowledge of key Association priorities.
  • Ongoing recruitment and training of volunteer community educators.
  • Identify, engage and partner with community organizations to expand the impact of Alzheimer’s
  • Association care and support efforts.
  • Maximize company exposure and participation with diverse audiences.
  • Actively engage new volunteers and partner organizations through year-round outreach.
  • Participate in community outreach and fund development activities.
  • Assist in newsletter preparation and submit articles as requested.
  • All staff are required to support and participate in special events and fund development activities as
  • requested.
  • All staff are expected to informally advocate for those we serve and the services offered by the Chapter.
  • All staff are expected to support and participate in formal advocacy and public policy activities as
  • requested.
  • Normal office environment.
  • High volume of public contact.
  • Travel by car to attend meetings within Pennsylvania and by air to national meetings.
  • Evening and weekend hours may be required.
  • Work may be stressful during periods of high volume or tight deadlines.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in voluntary health, human services, gerontology, nursing or a related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two years of experience in human service program service delivery, preferably in aging field and/or within
    diverse communities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
  • Strong Public Health, Voluntary Health experience highly preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff and external contacts to build and maintain successful teams
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, organize opportunities to expand services
  • Ability to coach, mentor and develop volunteers
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and electronically to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse population
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and access to a reliable personal vehicle
  • Ability to travel as needed to perform job duties
  • Ability to operate designated office equipment
  • High level of integrity, diplomacy and initiative
