Responsible for the development, organization, implementation and oversight of high quality programs in the areas of Summer Aquatics, Camp and year-round Enrichment. Give leadership to the in-house Enrichment Department as well to our “community gem”; an outdoor summer pool and camp that sits on 14 acres in Middlesex County.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs and supervises program areas and events assigned to meet the needs of the community and the Association.
- Recruits, hires, trains, scheduled and develop staff to fill the needs of the programs within the culture of the Association.
- Establishes programs, activities, events within the needs of the Association and community.
- Develops and manages the budget for all areas of responsibility in conjunction with Director of Operations for Branch.
- Using current data, assess the programs impact and effectiveness.
- Responsible for program areas being used ensuring they are safe, maintained and suits the needs of the program.
- Provides leadership within program areas for fundraising and events to support the overall efforts of the association.
- Work closely with branch staff team to coordinate facility usage.
- Administrative functions, including but not limited to: payroll, hiring packets, incident reports, brochure preparation, department and branch communications.
- Engage as an active participant and leader in YMCA staff teams as assigned.
- All other duties as assigned
SEASONALCAMP/POOL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Direct Supervision and leadership of Pool Managers and Camp counselors, including hiring, coaching, mentoring and scheduling.
- Attend Camp and Aquatic Quality Team Meetings
- Responsible for the camp and pool and all operations, programs, staff and safety during Y hours.
- Monitoring and purchasing of supplies for department
- Prepare and manage budget
- Ensure program and facility compliance with all state and local regulations
- Maintain all records according to local, state and YMCA policy
- Ensure staff are adequately training in all safety and emergency procedures and certifications are current
- Complete all administrative work in a timely fashion
- Ensure the care, safety and well-being of all members, guests, and staff in the aquatic environment.
- Interact with members, guests and community in a positive, professional manner.
- Ensure Edison Branch staff are actively participating in association in-services at either Metuchen or South Amboy (with limited pool time, accomplishing 2-4 hours of in-service time per month presents a unique challenge).
- Communicate concerns of the pool to Branch Director of Operations to ensure they are being addressed.
Skills/Experience:
- BS/BA degree or equivalent education and experience in related field
- Certified Pool Operator (or obtain shortly after employment)
- Program management experience
- Lifeguard certification
- CPR/AED certified
- Previous supervisory sills or relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Budget development and management experience
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills, as well as relationship building are key skills needed for success in this position.
- Two years proven supervisory sills or relevant work experience.
- Previous YMCA experience a plus
