YMCA Camp Letts has a career opportunity for a dynamic leader for the oldest overnight camp in the Washington, DC area. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Associate Executive Director. The AED reports directly to the Branch Executive Director. The AED will work with the branch leadership team to provide direction and strategic planning for all branch functions; Operating in accordance with the policies, procedures, and standards established by the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington Association Services Office.
Areas of Responsibility:
- The AED will support branch directors in the successful management of all branch departments: summer camp, retreat services and kitchen, equestrian, properties and facilities.
- The AED will supervise five direct reports, including kitchen staff; will assist the Executive Director in strategic development and implementation of programs and services to meet community needs; will give leadership to all aspects of program operations including staff development, training, planning, fiscal development/management, program administration, market trends and analysis, capital development and human resource management.
- Will evaluate the performance of employees; counsel employees in areas where performance improvements are required.
- Provide the highest quality in programs and services for members, parents, and program participants. Instill and model a blue ribbon state of customer service.
- The AED will strengthen and cultivate relationships to assist with branch fundraising goals; Monitor monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.
- Must have the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships;
- Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills to problem solve, plus excellent organization skills;
- Supervise facility usage and maintenance of the facility to ensure a bright, clean, and functional environment.
Educational Background:
A successful AED will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or Education from an accredited college or university, though a Master’s Degree in Camp Administration or Recreation is ideal.
Skills/Experience:
- Must have at least five years’ experience in directing both day and overnight camps, single day special events, and working with or within a retreat center;
- Will have accomplishments in leadership of staff development, fund raising, program planning and innovation, budget development and management of fiscal control systems, financial development, strategic planning and community development;
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
- YMCA multi-team or branch leader certification preferred.
