This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Program Director will provide leadership in Youth, Family and Sports programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Incorporate and model our YMCA Christian principles of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Develop outdoor programming activities to expand beyond summer camp.
- Oversee implementation of outdoor programs including curriculum development, daily activities, schedule, transportation and special events
- Responsible for program operations: licensing compliance, daily activities, communication, participant behavior management, scheduling, quality of programming, staff development and coordination of transportation.
- In cooperation with the Executive Branch Director, recruit, hire, supervise and train staff
- Work in a team environment and encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with members, children, parents, co-workers and supervisors.
- 7Ensure the physical, emotional and social safety of participants and work with staff to create an environment in which all are respectful of each other and the guidelines of camp.
- Report to the Branch Executive Director any concerns about the behavior of a particular participant and report any suspicions of child abuse immediately; document accordingly on an incident report.
- Build relationships with Outdoor Programming participants and staff.
- Stay informed of staff choices, especially involving discipline, to ensure that all receive fair and appropriate treatment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
BA Required
Skills/Experience:
- At least 21 years of age
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of
- hire date.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate
- program activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships
- with people from different backgrounds.

Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $32,000.00 - $35,000.00
