We are looking for an experienced Y-career professional, a membership expert to provide leadership in all aspects of the membership development, sales and services; and one who believes in Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
Directs all aspects of membership for the Association including recruitment of new members, retention of existing members and supervision of assigned staff. Develops, plans and implements new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assess, develop, plan and evaluate Association membership acquisition and recruitment efforts including but not limited to marketing campaigns, prospective member tours, sales and new member on-boarding for the association.
- Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Cultivate and lead a culture of exceptional member service.
- Works in conjunction with the Health and Wellness Director to create an environment that delivers effective support for all people seeking health, well-being and community for themselves and their families.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
- Work closely with the Director of Marketing to ensure that social media supports generating new members, connecting members to each other, influences member retention and development.
- Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances
- Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to staff. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions.
- Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
- Lead training efforts for frontline staff in membership enrollment, retention, and recovery strategies.
- Works to ensure access to all community participants through promotion of the Y’s Financial Assistance Program and as a staff team leader in the YMCA annual support campaign.
- All other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Five (5) years related sales experience and/or training and development of high performing teams.
- Must have a background in staff team development, relationship management, and use of technology.
- Sound management skills including member service and retention, personnel management, supervision, fiscal management, and fundraising.
- Experience in a membership development organization required.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, community groups, and Association events.
- YMCA Team Leader Certification desired.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00
