The Associate Youth and Teen Director will carry primary responsibilities for the creation, development, and implementation of high-quality preschool, youth and teen programs along with special needs activity and enrichment opportunities under the direction of the Senior Program Director. This position will have seasonal roles as a camp director and requires a full workday on Saturday with one day off during the week between September 15-May 15th.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops and maintains engaging new activity and enrichment programs that continue to meet the changing needs and demands of local children, teens, adults and families.
  • Recruit, onboard, train and supervise program staff and volunteers to assist in implementing and maintaining top quality programs.
  • Directs and supervises preschool, youth and teen classes to meet YMCA objectives. Expands Y program offerings and participation in programs within the community.
  • Coordinate youth and teen and child watch rooms including hours, staffing, and events/usage.
  • Create a special needs initiative across all relevant program areas. Staff, train and implement programs to benefit the diverse population both inside our YMCA and in our community.
  • Create and build a strong community for the youth and teen population via special events, series and workshops.
  • Maintains room schedules and staff schedules for all relevant areas.
  • Secure and facilitate multipurpose room rentals around YMCA programming.
  • Seasonal camp responsibilities as director of on-site and off-site Musical Theatre, Kiddie, CIT and LIT camps (May 15-September15)
  • Engaged in programs by instructing a minimum of 5 hours per week.
  • Assists in marketing development and distribution of all program information.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Maintains clean, organized and safe program facilities.
  • Ability to create curriculum and trainings that facilitate age-appropriate skills.
  • All other miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Administrative skills, involving using Microsoft office
  • Must have outgoing personality, be energetic, passionate, communicate well
  • Must have extensive experience in customer service
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Must be very knowledgeable about current trends in relevant areas of responsibility.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications; Bloodborne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention training within 90 days of hire date.
  • Must be available evenings and weekends.

Required Certifications

  • Stand: Extended periods of time.
  • Lift equipment up to 50lbs.
  • Will be required to travel to offsite facilities when necessary.
  • May be required to attend meetings outside of the building.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $38,000.00 - $42,000.00
