We are looking for a motivated individual that loves working with all age groups, has a proven leadership track record in the supervision, development and delivery of programs/services; and believes in Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. Oversees the development and operations of various programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for providing leadership in the development, management, coordination, planning, safety, promotion, evaluation, staffing and supervision of all the above programs and their facilities. Create original programming through research and imagination, which will increase participation in YMCA programming.
- To staff all programs includes recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance.Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Maintaining up to date staff schedules. Review, approve and submit staff payroll hours according to published schedule.
- Works in conjunction with the Membership, Wellness and other Director to create an environment that delivers effective support for all people seeking health, well-being and community for themselves and their families.
- Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for the program department and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
- Supervise the development and documentation of the programs’ content. Develop manuals/guidelines for programs and recommend for approval.
- Payroll processing. Including the accurate payroll hours of all on site staff and supporting schedules.
- To develop operating objectives and recommend to supervisor for approval and implementation into overall department plans.
- Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development evaluations and ongoing training of staff.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed.
- To develop lessons and/or supervise the recording of lesson plans by on site staff.
- Maintain a positive environment for the delivery of YMCA programs including the assurance of client satisfaction while fostering a Y community.
- Actively pursue partnerships with community organizations, to offer private programming and/or secure facilities for open programs.
- Coordinate the facility management of all venues to assure cleanliness, safety and attractiveness and compliance with all applicable regulations (i.e. DOH licensing, etc.).
- Provide information to supervisor for contract process for venues, vendors, etc.
- Develop budget plan for program and non-program areas, personnel development and training, recommend to supervisor for approval. Administers approved budget for his/her area. Determine what equipment is necessary for programs and acquire it through purchase, donation or loan. Equipment purchases shall be within budgets and approved by supervisor.
- Coordinate program promotion with Marketing Director, providing information used to create press releases, ads, flyers, brochures, banners and other promotional materials. Assist in creation of displays and participate in staffing for open houses, street fairs and other promotional opportunities.
- Ensure the correct entry of program information into DAXKO and coordinate with administrative staff on correct registration of participants in DAXKO. Collects and maintains paperwork relevant to classes, including registration forms, waivers, emergency contact forms, attendance sheets, flyers, equipment inventories, and any other paperwork generated to run classes.
- Determine whether classes can run based on budgets and enrollment, combining enrollments where possible. Notify, or cause to be notified, registered participants in canceled classes, submitting requests for switches and/or refunds to Business Office.
- To implement and review all program’s risk management practices especially as they relate to Child Protection. Ensures the appropriate transfer of insurance documentation to and from the agency, with respect to vendors and facilities used in programs.
- Participate in Directors’ meetings, sharing resources and problem resolution with other directors.
- Participate in the Program Staff Group for the agency wide planning process. Consult with supervisor in the planning for the program area, prepares studies that are needed for planning.
- Works to ensure access to all community participants through promotion of the Y’s Financial Assistance Program and as a staff team leader in the YMCA annual support campaign.
- Assist with special events such as Open House, Healthy Kids Day, Family Night, Seasonal Events, Program Registrations and Orientations.
- Participates in all agency-wide fundraising efforts, where appropriate. Assist in efforts to secure financial support, working with Director of Development to complete grant applications.
- Accept any special projects.
- All other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree and three to five (3-5) years of managerial or supervisory experience as a YMCA and/or non-profit program director.
Skills/Experience:
- Must have a proven track record of a strong program development.
- Must be able to hire instructors and teachers.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and purpose of the YMCA.
- Excellent human relationship skills with a member service focus.
- Excellent decision making skills, the ability to take initiative & be flexible.
- A professional personal image and the ability to work harmoniously and establish positive relationships with staff, members, and the business community are imperative.
- A working knowledge of the computer especially Microsoft Office Suite (Windows environment).
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of employment.
- A professional image and the ability to work harmoniously with staff, members and the community are imperative.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $50,000 - $62,000
