This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Oversees the recruitment, selection, training and development of childcare staff and works alongside the Childcare Leadership Team to ensure high quality in all afterschool and camp programming.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for carrying out the Christian Mission of the YMCA.
  • Oversees the recruitment, hiring, training, and development of afterschool and camp staff.
  • Fosters the development of childcare staff by working with program leaders who engage in ongoing feedback and coaching, providing resources and offering support for informal and formal learning.
  • Oversees talent management, including staff training and leadership development, retention, and recognition. Assesses and evaluates training and staff development needs, and develops programs to meet needs.
  • Develops and implements recruiting and staffing strategies to ensure programs are fully staffed with high caliber team members within budget allocations. Identifies and cultivates appropriate and effective sources for candidates for childcare positions.
  • Performs site visits to further the development of staff and work with program directors to ensure the delivery of high quality programs and services.
  • Serves as a member of the Childcare Leadership Team and supports the overall objectives of the childcare department and the YMCA.
  • Actively participates in the YMCA Annual Campaign and supports the Childcare team in meeting goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • One to two years experience in human resources management and/or childcare staff development preferred.
  • Certification as ARC CPR Instructor, preferable.  Certifications in CPR and First Aid within the first 90 days.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00
