General Summary
The Program Director organizes, plans, staffs and directs the programs and services of the Alzheimer's Association's Georgia Chapter. They monitor and evaluate program activities to ensure best practices are utilized and strategic plans are fully executed in the community to achieve strategic plan goals. They also provide leadership, supervision, and mentoring to the Atlanta staff and volunteers.
This position is located in the Dunwoody, GA office with travel in the 29 county Metro Atlanta area.
Essential Job Functions
- Develops and implements agreed-upon mutual goals with the VP of Programs and Services to meet the care and support and research pillars of the strategic plan.
- Oversees staff in the planning, delivery, tracking and evaluation of all care and support services.
- Leads staff in engaging volunteers to increase the reach of care and support services through volunteer-powered delivery.
- Manages and supervises local staff. Recruits, interviews, and hires staff and provides appropriate staff training and counseling to promote an environment of transparency, inclusion and teamwork.
- Leads staff implementation of a system-based intervention strategy for health systems to increase diagnosis and access to quality care.
- Develops and maintains community partnerships and collaborations for increasing the number of persons served through programs and services.
- In concert with the local program staff and the VP of Programs and Services, plans and delivers core programs and services to ensure strategic impact of the Association's mission.
- Directs staff on strategic initiatives for:
- increasing the number of persons served through web-based educational programs.
- marketing care and support services.
- increasing concern and awareness initiatives in collaboration with the senior director of communications.
- meeting goals for accelerating research.
- supporting Association events such as the Walk to End Alzheimer's, Alzheimer's Day at the Capitol, etc
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required in social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, gerontology, public health or related; Master's degree preferred
- 3+ years' experience in successful management and staff supervision
- 3+ years' experience managing and mentoring staff in volunteer management
- 3+ years' demonstrated experience, skills or aptitude in program delivery
- Ability to lead, guide and inspire staff and volunteers to achieve goals and objectives; demonstrate open communications, transparency and teamwork
- Basic community mobilization, volunteer engagement practices and techniques
- Effective oral communications including conducting presentations to large and small groups
- Effective written communications including business writing, clear and concise narrative reports, and evaluations
- Highly organized with strong time management skills to successful balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Fundamentals of management, development and monitoring of budget
- Principles, practices/techniques of interviewing, supervising, training and appraising staff
- PC and computer equipment including word processing, accounting, database management, spreadsheets and software applications
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as required by the job
- Ability and willingness to travel with the service area as needed for the job
- Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 25lbs.
- Must possess valid driver's license, access to reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance
