The Guest Services Assistant provides support in all aspects of visitor relations.
Provides support in all aspects of visitor relations. Primary responsibility is housekeeping; other responsibilities may include: housekeeping & food service functions, assisting with visitor orientation, answering routine questions and providing information, assisting with event planning, coordinating/conducting interpretive tours, and supporting stewardship and maintenance efforts. May coordinate and schedule volunteers. Clean/maintain Independence Creek Preserve guest houses and facilities to a very high standard of cleanliness.
- May coordinate and schedule volunteers.
- Ability to operate a cash register and calculate and deliver monetary change.
- May lead small preserve work groups, including other staff or volunteers.
- Ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Residence on preserve property may be required.
- Work requires occasional physical exertion and/or muscular strain.
- Work involves several disagreeable elements and/or exposure to job hazard’s where there is some possibility of injury.
- Make day to day decisions as delegated by supervisor; may work under limited supervision and supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience organizing files.
- Experience operating power and construction tools in a safe manner.
- Experience in Customer Service.
- This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers." Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.

- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Experience or knowledge of natural systems.
- Ability to complete tasks within assigned timeframes, possibly in the absence of supervision.
