The Healthy Living Fitness Engagement Specialist supports the Fitness Director through engaging Health Seekers and Already Active members, in achieving and/or maintaining their fitness goals.  This will create the following desired outcomes:

  • Increase “inventory” for Fitness Director to develop revenue and increase retention
  • Increase time for Fitness Director for strategic planning and staff development

Note: The schedule for this position is considered Tuesday - Saturday

Areas of Responsibility: 

New Members:

  • Connect with Adult, Young Adult, AOA and Family units within 7 days of joining.  Connection ensures Mindbody or Swim Appointment is scheduled.

Current Members:

  • Use MIA report and contact units daily via phone or email who are listed with **3-4 visits per month to check in goals, needs, how can we help.

Personal Training Clients:

  • Reach out to each Personal training client every 4 weeks to check on progress and experience.  Reach out to old personal training clients who trained with us and are still active who have not trained with us for 6 months to check in.

Small Group Training Clients:

  • Reach out to each Small Group Personal Training client every 4 weeks to check on progress and experience.  Reach out to old Small Group Personal Training clients who trained with us and are still active who have not trained with us for 6 months to check in.

Orientations:

  • Follow up with orientations who have canceled or no-showed for their appointments to get rescheduled.
  • Follow up with completed orientations 2 days after completion to check up on the member to make sure expectations were met.

Consultations:

  • Follow up with consultations who have canceled or no-showed for their appointments to get rescheduled.
  • Follow up with completed consultations 2 days after completion to check up on the member to make sure expectations were met.
  • Create and use tracking sheets that are shared with Y staff.
  • Submit marketing requests and brochure information as needed and by deadline dates set by marketing.
  • Promotes and incorporates the YMCA core values and character development model into all program activities. Develops and distributes branch specific marketing materials of program information and assist with Association-Wide Marketing (i.e. brochures, newsletters and special event promotion) through various media.  Develops and implements programming for designated sessions
  • Represent YMCA in appropriate business & community groups. This includes providing timely publicity, developing a working relationship with local schools and other community groups.
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Designee.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree is preferred. Preferred majors:  Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum two years experience in programming
  • Minimum one year experience in staff supervision
  • Experience in customer or member service is preferred
  • Current certification in CPR/AED for Adults, Children and Infants and First Aid.
  • Holds Personal Trainer or Group Exercise certification through a reputable industry source (ACE, ACSM, AFAA, etc.) from an organization approved by Central Bucks Family YMCA
  • Proficient in and able to clearly communicate specific components and usage of cardio-respiratory, selectorized, free weight, and other common exercise equipment (i.e., rubberized resistance, stability balls, medicine balls, etc.)
  • Ability to conduct scientifically valid fitness assessments and appropriately interpret the results
  • Knowledge of research methods and a high degree of computational efficiency in Microsoft office products
  • Attends Listen First/Living Our Cause Training within 6 months of the date of hire.
  • Successfully complete YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles course within one year of hire.
  • Complete New Staff Orientation within 60 days of the date of hire.
