The objective of the Family Director is to supervise and coordinate all aspects of the Childcare and Family Programs. The focus of the job is to ensure satisfaction and well-being of the members involved in the department. The Family Director will be fully responsible for the policies regarding the school-age care, day camp, nursery and be responsible for all facility rentals and Family Fun Nights and other family and youth programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Implement all department policies and procedures.
- Coordinates all Childcare programs with emphasis on meeting and exceeding State minimum standards for School Age Childcare.
- Recruits, Trains, Supervises and Evaluates all staff to coincide with National YMCA Childcare Program and YMCA of Southwest Kansas requirements.
- Develops and maintains department budget and all other department financial reports including participation, volunteer and scholarship numbers.
- Coordinate and oversee all payments, scheduling of payments, billing and invoicing for Family Department.
- Conduct quarterly meeting with your committee assignments.
- Implement and administer new programs.
- Commitment to the YMCA Core Values and Mission and incorporate into all programs.
- Participate in our membership process and all other membership campaigns, promos and special events for the Y.
- Work one lunch shift per week and one Director on Duty shift a week.
- Attend program director’s meetings quarterly and weekly staff meetings.
- Any other work deemed necessary by the BED or Association staff.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management, Education or a related field is preferred but not necessary.
Skills/Experience:
- At least two years of training or experience is needed if no degree.
- Knowledge of child-care issues, KDHE licensing and problem-solving techniques.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including: Word, Publisher and Excel.
- Ability to meet requirements of YMCA of the USA for Team Leader.
- Must be current in CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Current driver’s license with acceptable record and vehicle liability insurance.
- Must possess a cooperative spirit committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to staff, lay leaders, YMCA members, program participants and general public.
- Personality traits must include honestly, friendliness, dependability, self-initiative and respect for personal and property rights.
- Ability to communicate well with staff, volunteers and program participants.
- Physically able to move freely throughout the facility and other program sites and to lift 50 pounds.
- Maturity, tactfulness and good judgement are needed to handle supervision problems.
- The state requires certification within the first 90 days of employment.
- Must be able to speak clearly and articulate accurate information.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $30,000.00 - $44,000.00
