The Executive Director leads and manages daily operations of Camp Speers and its specialty programming, including Dragonfly Forest, Camp Philly, an Outdoor Education series, third-party rentals, school groups and Day Camp. The Executive Director serves as a role model for the camp team in communication, actions and service, and believing in and living the values of the Y. Successful candidates will have a passion to work with and connect to campers and visitors, support the vision and capital campaign goals for the Y and Camp Speers, and have a commitment to excellence all service provided. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage fiscal operations and ensure attainment of budgetary objectives; manage all financial record keeping, trends and reporting.  Analyze trends and determine cost effectiveness of programs and services.  Ensure prudent fiscal management of all resources and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Lead Camp leadership team that manages programming and operations
  • Year round promotion and marketing of the camp under the direction of the Marketing Department
  • Assist all Camp Directors and Staff in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, training and supervising of all camp staff while adhering to legal and ACA/YMCA standards.
  • Works with the camp administrative team on developing and implementing the pre-camp training schedule.
  • Provide opportunities for specialized staff training sessions including, but not limited to rabies, behavior management, child abuse recognition report training, risk management and all Health Department standards.
  • Work with camp administrative team on unit placement of staff appropriately.
  • Build community resources through the cultivation and development of relationships.  Actively engage members, volunteers and community leaders in the Y mission.
  • Develop a productive board of volunteers and build effective leadership for the branch and mission. Effectively utilize resources in fund raising and community engagement planning.
  • Create a positive staff environment where diverse staff members can work together to provide programs and services.  Develop and recognize staff to ensure continuous improvement, encouraging ongoing education and training of staff.
  • Oversee the physical plant of the facility and oversee the implementation of the preventative maintenance activities.  Ensure that facility is maintained to provide positive image and member experience at all times.
  • Create a member focus in all operations.  Ensure that all programs represent high quality YMCA programs and provide experiences that exceed member expectations. 
  • Monitor trends and developments in legislation, funding, markets, demographics and community needs to ensure that Camps continue to deliver cost effective programs.
  •  Serve as a member of the Association and Camp Management Team.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 5-10 years of related experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Leadership in branch operations/facility management required.
  • Experience in developing and motivating volunteer staff.
  • Excellent fiscal management skills and ability to identify funding opportunities.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $82,000.00 - $100,000.00
