This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The HR Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day administration of the human resources programs, projects, policies and procedures.Works to create and maintain a healthy work culture by fostering an atmosphere of teamwork; promotes professional working environments; exercises impartiality in problem-solving and maintains confidence and composure under pressure or adverse situations.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Under the direction of the SVP of HR/CHRO, provides leadership and consulting support to executives and management on matters of reinforcing culture, setting goals, developing policy, and implementing strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain performance management and appraisal programs.
  • Oversee the administration of compensation and benefit programs, including job description and classification, and salary adjustments. Oversee benefit plan communication, enrollment and serves as point of contact.
  • Remain current with employment laws and regulations. Maintain an effective program of compliance with laws and regulations related to human resource.
  • Support and maintain efficient operations of YMCA programs and facilities through management of issues related to processing of insurance claims and management of pre-employment screens for staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee HR systems and employee records to ensure accuracy and improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. Ensure timely and accurate submission of data requested by the EEOC, YMCA of the USA, Department of Labor, etc.
  • Under the direction of the VP of Finance & Risk Management review incidents and claims and implement mitigation strategies, manage day-to-day worker’s compensation and member/participant insurance claims, work with branches and insurance companies to secure and process documentation for efficient claim processing.
  • Support the development and implementation of systems, policies, and procedures related to risk. Process certificate of insurance requests and maintain MVR records.
  • Support all Employee Engagement initiatives.
  • Support all Staff Training/ Development and Staff Recognition initiatives and events.
  • Serve as a resource and participates as a member of various staff committees and leadership groups.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or equivalent is required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three or more years of professional experience in human resources management and staff development and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent discretion and judgement when dealing with sensitive materials and confidential information.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding human resources.
  • Proficiency in business and human resources related computer applications, which may include talent management systems, time and attendance systems, etc.
Additional Information: 

Salary: $62,000.00
