Teach For America – Detroit seeks a Coordinator, Matriculation, Hiring, and Recruitment to design strategies and oversee execution for plans designed to ensure the region recruits, matriculates, certifies, and places its incoming corps members in a strategic and timely fashion. This is an excellent position for someone who enjoys relationship building as well as balancing long-term project management with real-time course adjustment decisions. Support regional and recruitment team efforts to build a strong, diverse corps in Detroit (30%)
- Arrange site visits and other events for prospective corps members that include classroom visits, debriefs with corps members, alumni, and school and community leaders
- Track our regional recruitment efforts in our national constituent management system (TFACT) as well as in other relevant trackers, with relevant individuals, etc.
- Schedule meetings between prospective CMs and TFA Detroit corps members, alumni, and staff
- Connect with prospective corps members to share information about the Detroit region, answer questions, etc.
Design, execute, and manage matriculation and onboarding of incoming corps members (30%)
- Train and manage regional team during four rounds of confirmation campaign execution
- Coordinate events to connect incoming corps members with the Detroit region, including classroom observations, school tours and engagements with current corps members, staff and alumni
- Serve as the resident expert and support person for incoming corps members, answering their questions and/or connecting them to resources, individuals, opportunities, etc.
- Develop written communications and comprehensive onboarding modules to introduce and inspire accepted applicants and corps members to the Detroit region and outline the expectations to successfully matriculate to the corps
- Craft regional communications for incoming corps members (including emails, newsletters and messaging on regional webpage) that are accurate, clear and consistent
Design, execute, and manage the certification and hiring of incoming corps members (30%)
- Maintain extensive and nuanced knowledge of state certification requirements
- Coordinate materials and workshops to prepare corps members for state certification exams
- Create and manage systems to collect and track required documentation that corps members must submit to become teachers in the state of Michigan
- Design and execute strategies, and manage systems, that strategically match corps members to known vacancies throughout all hiring markets in Detroit
- Design, manage, execute, and track strategies to support hiring readiness, including building high quality resumes and profiles, developing strong interview skills, and (when necessary) sample teaching abilities
- Design corps communication strategies and materials to ensure CMs have current information on hiring processes, expectations, and progress to goal
- Support operations and logistics for all hiring events
- Support document collection and file maintenance to ensure that our corps members and our program maintain compliance with AmeriCorps
Ongoing Regional Responsibilities (10%)
- Participate in and support various regional efforts, including some nights and weekends, to support corps member and alumni development
- Support efforts that impact corps members and alumni across the continuum including but not limited to corps member selection, various alumni campaigns, ongoing AmeriCorps data collection and tracking, etc.
- Serve as an “all hands on deck” team member willing to support the region in various ways as needs and opportunities arise, which embodies the spirit of the TFA-Detroit regional team
- 2-4 years professional work experience
- Superb organization, detail orientation, project management, and execution skills
- Ability to critically identify system inefficiencies, anticipate challenges and gaps, and contingency plan accordingly
- Ability to “not miss a beat” in an entrepreneurial, goal-oriented, fast-paced and frequently changing environment
- Experience managing projects to reach and exceed ambitious goals
