Teach For America – Detroit seeks a Coordinator, Development & Regional Operations to provide behind-the-scenes support for the Teach For America – Detroit Development Team and Executive Director, as well as overall operational support for the regional office.  You will enable our regional fundraising efforts by building capacity, developing and maintaining systems, and providing administrative support. You will also ensure that our regional office fosters a positive and supportive climate that sets the tone for reaching our regional vision as a united team. 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated regional team steeped in a critical and innovative fundraising campaign.  This individual must be extremely organized and detail-oriented, able to build strong and sustainable systems and have the capability to interact with within all levels of the organization and external constituents.  To be successful, s/he must be laser-focused on the importance of behind-the-scenes work to achieving outcomes and moving the needle towards the regional vision.

Managing Internal Logistics, Operations, and Systems for our Development Team (50%)

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a set of strong development systems to maximize the efficiency and outcomes of the development team, including but not limited to: systems for updating engagement records, payment processing, and systems for prospecting, qualifying, cultivating and stewarding donors
  • Identify, synthesize, and analyze data to help our development team assess our progress-to-goal; then, collaborate with our team members to strategize and implement key actions to push continued progres
  • Craft communication designed to cultivate and steward new and current donors, including but not limited to: prospect research briefs, meeting briefs, emails, thank you notes, etc.
  • Partner with the team to plan and execute development events

 Support Regional Operations (20%)

  • Manage regional budgeting, forecasting, and planning systems
  • Create and maintain a positive, functional, inclusive office culture for all staff members, corps members, and guests
  • Support the on-boarding of new staff members to ensure they are acclimated to the Detroit context and the culture of the Detroit regional team

 Provide exemplary and efficient support to the Executive Director and the Development Team (20%)

  • Providing administrative support including scheduling meetings and conference calls, maintaining calendars, arranging travel, managing correspondence, and processing reimbursements for the executive director
  • Interacting in person, over email, and via telephone with regional team members and external constituents on an ongoing basis on behalf of the executive director and/or members of the development team
  • Drafting and/or editing correspondence to team members and external constituents
  • Proactively developing systems for the regional team to maintain data and communications for varied internal/external stakeholders

 Be a Steward of our Regional Team and our Movement (10%)

  • Select incoming corps members to join our movement
  • Support regional efforts to ensure admitted corps members accept their offers
  • Help plan and participate in all-region meetings and events throughout the course of the year
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience

  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen ability to operationalize the functions of a team
  • An uncommon level of personal responsibility, exceptional goal orientation, and a proven track record of success.
  • Strong communicator: can write and speak clearly and compellingly about our organization, mission, and goals; and has a mature presence.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce (preferred), Excel, and PowerPoint required.
